Leon County Transportation Service

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We offer curb-to-curb public transit and nonemergency transportation services throughout Leon County. This service is generally available Monday through Saturday, 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM, and Sunday, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

  • To request transportation, please make your arrangements at least one day before your travel needs. Call Big Bend Transit at (850) 574-6064, option #1, by 2:00 PM the day before you need a ride. This applies Monday through Friday (for a Saturday or Monday ride, call on Friday).

During your call, you will need to provide the following information: your name, phone number, pickup address, destination, the time you need to arrive, whether you require a return trip, and if you need assistance for a disability (such as a wheelchair or for vision impairment). You will also be informed of the fare and the time you should be ready for your pickup.

  • The cost of a one-way trip depends on your pick-up and drop-off locations. For the general public, fares are $10.00 per one-way trip within Tallahassee city limits and $17.50 per one-way trip anywhere else within Leon County. If you need an escort to ride with you, they will pay the same fare. Please note that escort requests should be made when scheduling your ride.

Fares are collected each time you board the vehicle and may be paid by cash, check, money order, or a Ride Pass. Please note that exact fare is required—drivers do not carry change and cannot provide receipts. If necessary, a receipt can be obtained from the Tallahassee office.

  • If your plans change, please call (850) 574-6064, option #1 as soon as possible to update or cancel your trip. Cancellations made less than 2 hours before your scheduled pickup time may result in a “no-show” charge and/or a temporary suspension of transportation privileges.

  • (850) 574-6064, option #1. Information is available from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Florida Relay Service at 1-800-955-8771 provides TDD accessibility.

  • If you experience any difficulties during your trip, please contact the Transportation Coordinator at (850) 574-6266, option #1. Let them know you’d like to provide feedback regarding the transportation service, a driver, or any other aspect of your ride so your concern can be addressed promptly. If at any time you are not satisfied with the local transportation service, you may call the Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged Hotline at 1-800-983-2435.

  • Generally, you can ride to and from any location within Leon County, including Tallahassee, Bradfordville, Woodville, Fort Braden, and surrounding areas. The service is designed to get transportation-disadvantaged individuals and the general public to their destinations.
